Greetings from (now) sunny Vermont !
On Sunday, August 29, Tropical Storm Irene landed here in a big way challenging our resourcefulness and resilience. I'm proud to say, Vermonters were up for the challenge and we're open for business.
If you were planning on visiting our state soon, please don't change your plans. We're open for business and we're counting on you. The leaves will be turning and the sun will be out. Vermonters are very grateful for the support coming from inside and outside the state. It's made a difference and nearly all of the state is functioning and ready for your visit. We promise to make it unforgettable.
If you weren't planning on visiting, now might be the best time ever. Sadly, some folks have chosen to cancel their trips. Though we understand the reasons why, there are unprecedented vacancies and deals throughout the state, from first class resorts to cozy B&Bs. Call or go online now. There will probably never be a last-minute opportunity like this one. Here's a link to the state tourism department
that will show you the way.
Thanks for helping out, and if you're coming up our way stop by and see us at the Teddy Bear Factory.
President and CEO
Vermont Teddy Bear Company (Pajamagram, Calyx Flowers) would like to join in thanking everyone for the continued volunteer efforts, donations, and prayers. Many of our customers ask if there's any way to help, and we're happy to say that there are many fine organizations working tirelessly on behalf of our recovering State. Here are some that we recommend:
We would also like to let you know about some of our own current efforts to help. Here are some of the recovery projects in the works from Bear Crew:
- Coordinating a bake sale to benefit the Vermont Food Bank
- Organizing a blood drive for the Red Cross
- Creating a donation collection at our retail store to benefit Vermont Food Bank
- Performing volunteer support in the towns of Richmond and Waterbury
- Getting the word out that Vermont is Open
